I have been a Travel Agent for more than 7 years. I started out in 2014 with a desire to help friends and family travel more. I somehow ended up with a strong older demographic of clients who were interested in cruise travel. It was great seeing my clients go to multiple destinations and it inspired me to indulge in cruises.
As the years went by and I moved to Ghana, I continued to serve my clients in North America. When the pandemic came around, it was nothing but a downhill battle for my travel business. Many of my clients were scrambling to get back and I was helping to rearrange their tickets or obtain a refund. Simultaneously, I was losing my income because if my clients don’t travel, I don’t get paid as it’s the nature of our industry. There were days I worked for 8 hours calling vendor suppliers while not being paid because no matter the Virtual Nomads brand is built on top tier customer service. For many travel agents, we are faced with this dilemma: lose the good name of our brand while working for free or tell our clients to figure out that can result in our clients misplaced their anger on our name. Believe me, I have heard stories from both clients and colleagues. Thank goodness, my good name was intact but the financial rewards did not match. Some people would say it is not about the money but I ask them, what are we working long days for? Money, money MONEY! I lost motivation to sell travel products and services for the better half of 2020 and the beginning of 2021.
Throughout 2021, I began to travel during the pandemic by first going back home to Toronto and visiting destinations such as Turkey and Cote D’Ivoire. I restarted my YouTube channel to provide inspiration and tips for people looking to travel during the pandemic. It was only in June 2021 that I started to regain my quench to sell travel. I realized I have moved into a new direction in my business just like how the travel industry is. I began to see the untapped opportunity in traveling to the motherland as many people travel one way i.e., safaris. I saw the positive responses I was getting on my YouTube channel.
Therefore, I will always sell travel services of all varieties but I will be your Ghana Travel specialists focusing on the following niche services:
Student Travel
In collaboration with Lifelong Collab, my business that has helped me survive the pandemic, I will assist West African students in booking airfare and excursions in Canada. In addition, I will assist North American students with summer study abroad in Ghana. Ghana is safe destination and has the top universities in West Africa. In addition, when it comes to student travel in general our objective is to increase our West African & North American youth mobility post-pandemic.
Romance Travel
Many Diasporans have been flocking to Ghana & Nigeria to get married as a way to mix tradition and affordability while serving luxury. This gave birth to my boutique niche brand Destination Wedding Ghana, which makes your idea of having your dream wedding and honeymoon in Africa possible with a snap of your fingers. We focus on all types of Romance travel in Africa such as destination wedding group travel planning, honeymoon, babymoons, family travel, bachelor/bachelorette, vow renewals & romantic getaways. Our objective is to ensure many destinations within the continent of Africa are on the top of the list when it comes to romance travel, specifically our West African nations.
Group Inclusive Tour
I love to travel and I want people to join along with me. I want to create specialized tour packages to destinations around Africa and the world. I want to provide my market with the opportunity to travel and meet new people or travel with their affiliated group and share experiences together on a fixed itinerary. We are partnering with Tripadvisors tour brand, Viator and WeTravel platform to host our tour packages.
